, Peripherals, WirelessIf your fresh new laptop has an ExpressCard slot that’s not already preoccupied with a TV tuner, external SATA adapter, or EV-DO card, you might be interested in a little something that maximizes your ability to become the ultimate couch potato. Interlink Electronics has released its Bluetooth-enabled Media Remote that just so happens to fit snuggly inside your machine’s ExpressCard slot for storage and recharging. The device works with pretty much every media suite out there, including Windows Media Center, Dell Media Experience, Windows Media Player, iTunes, RealPlayer and presumably anything else with track / volume controls. Sporting a 30 foot range, a full week of battery life, and weighing only 1.1 ounces, this $49.95 media controller should make good use of that open ExpressCard slot — unless, of course, it’s reserved for more critical tasks.

Oh, Apple, must you be so coy? For those of you who haven’t been keeping score at home, since their debut, some folks have reported that their MacBooks are turning off completely out of the blue, which is, erm, bad. Over at TUAW, they’ve been chronicling this problem for the last few weeks and have posted a possible explanation to this problem’s cause, and an unofficial test to see if your MacBook might be susceptible. Today, TUAW informs us of Apple’s first official comment on the issue: “If your MacBook is shutting down intermittently, please contact AppleCare for service.” Thanks, Apple — that’s about as helpful as telling us to remove our hand from an exploding PowerBook battery.

SK Telecom is pulling out all the stops to get people hooked on their 3G and 4G data services, and have launched the T Login service and a new USB modem to get the ball rolling. The new (and incredibly clunky) USB modem looks to be able to provide HSDPA and EV-DO service to laptops and desktops, with a HSDPA / WiBro version due later this year. SK Telecom is even planning two PMPs and a digital camera to take advantage of the wireless broadband, and high-speed phones will be pulled under the T Login umbrella as well. We’re hearing all sorts of conflicting launch dates right now, but all of the above should be launched in some combination of now, October, December and/or January.
